Sewer Construction Advisory for Section of the Bronx

A major sewer system construction project is now under way in the Kingsbridge Heights area of the Bronx.  In light of this, traffic is expected to be in disarray and water supply may be randomly cut through the end of the year. The New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) is overseeing the project that will replace worn out mains, install catch basins and hydrants, and restore roadways. Residence will receive notice should water be turned off temporarily.  Construction has already started on several square blocks in Kingsbridge Heights–West Kingsbridge Road between Webb and University avenues, University Avenue between West Kingsbridge Road and West 190th Street, and West 190th Street between Webb and University avenues.

The work hours for the heavily used intersection of University Avenue and West Kingsbridge Road are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with no weekend or overnight work at any of the intersections involved in this project.  Motorists are asked to allow time for delays if they pass through any of the areas that will be impacted by this construction project as the work hours coincide with rush hour times where traffic, up to now, has been more substantial than usual. For the purpose of time management, there will be temporary traffic detours and parking restrictions while work is under way.
